Who We Are

This website is operated by Marena Lin for Congress, a federal campaign committee registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do.

When You Browse This Site

When you visit marenalinforcongress.com, we collect anonymous usage data through Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics platform that we host ourselves.

Umami collects:

• Page views
• Referral sources (what site or link brought you here)
• Browser type and screen size
• Approximate geographic location (country/region level)

Umami does not collect:

• Your IP address (not stored)
• Personally identifiable information of any kind
• Any information that could be used to identify you individually

Umami does not use cookies. It does not track you across websites. Your browsing data never leaves our server and is never shared with any third party. Umami is compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR by design.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Facebook tracking, Google Tag Manager, advertising scripts, retargeting pixels, or any third-party tracking technology. There are zero third-party scripts on this site that track your behavior.

When You Use Our Interactive Tools

Our tools — including the tax bracket picker, the OBBB Sankey diagram, the census tract heatmap, and the "What District Am I In?" tool — run entirely in your browser. When you select your income bracket, enter a zip code, or interact with any tool:

• Your inputs are processed locally in your browser
• We do not collect, transmit, or store any information you enter into these tools
• No data from your tool usage is sent to our server or any third party
• We cannot see what you entered or what results you saw

The one exception is the "Find Your District" address lookup: to determine your congressional district, your address is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau's official geocoding service. The Census Bureau is a federal government agency. We do not store your address, and it is not shared with any commercial third party.

The interactive street-level district map uses Mapbox to render map tiles. Mapbox receives information about what area of the map you are viewing (viewport and zoom level) but does not identify you individually. No search queries or addresses are shared with Mapbox.

When You Sign Up or Contact Us

If you voluntarily provide information — for example, by signing up for email updates, submitting a contact form, or signing a petition — we collect only what you provide: typically your name, email address, and zip code.

We use this information to:

• Send you campaign updates (email only, and only if you opted in)
• Understand which parts of the district are engaging with the campaign

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party. We do not share your information with other campaigns, political organizations, PACs, party committees, or data brokers.

You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

When You Donate

Donations are processed through ActBlue. When you donate, ActBlue collects your payment information and donor details. Their privacy policy governs the transaction. We do not store your credit card or payment information on our servers.

Federal law requires that we report the name, address, occupation, and employer of donors who contribute more than $200 in an election cycle to the FEC. This information becomes part of the public record. This is a legal requirement that applies to all federal campaigns.

When You Text With Us

If you provide your phone number and consent to receive text messages from this campaign, we use your number only to send campaign-related messages.

• You can opt out at any time by replying STOP
• Message and data rates may apply
• Message frequency varies
• We do not sell, share, or rent your phone number to any third party
• Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties

What We Don't Do

We want to be explicit:

• We do not use cookies of any kind
• We do not run any third-party tracking scripts
• We do not build behavioral profiles of our visitors
• We do not use retargeting or remarketing advertising
• We do not purchase voter file data to match with website visitors
• We do not use fingerprinting or any other covert identification technique
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data under any circumstances

How This Compares

Most campaign websites use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and multiple third-party trackers that follow visitors across the internet. We chose a different approach because we believe a campaign that asks for your trust should demonstrate it — starting with how we treat your data online.

Your Rights

You may request:

• A copy of any personal information we have about you
• Correction of any inaccurate information
• Deletion of your personal information from our systems

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and note the date of the change.
